Politicians being caught since 1777 and the track record of each President's administration and the list will grow. Back in the day according to the data the government ran a tighter ship and the incidences in each presidency shown as time goes by, so does the standards. Brave new times or a ship of fools? Seems we're taking on water, one good reason is that US government has managed to create more enemies than we had in WWII. I have to say it makes life uncomfortable knowing all the hatred towards the US, I didn't sign up for this nor did millions of others. So in the mean time kindly separate the US government from America her people, for its conditioning of the corporate world with ill intent towards its people and the planet. It's been written in many business journals that a politician in modern times is the best investment for return. The manipulation of bills and legislation for corporate interest opens doors to a treasure trove and the shareholders love it. What will happen when We The People don't buy into it anymore?
Great game till one gets caught and\or the public stops believing in regulation put forth by a government, which pays no never mind itself, of its own rules and regulations. Ah but the creation of its own web many get caught, an imperfect world at best for all of us but we're working on that.
