Trick or Treat - Remember Kim Davis?

Kimberly Jean Davis is county clerk for Rowan County, Kentucky who gained international attention in August 2015 when she defied a U.S. federal court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.  This caused an uproar from couples who were denied at the time but for Kim was acting "under God's authority". Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said, "Officials should be held to their duty to uphold the law, end of story".  If that were true Hillary you would be in jail.  This whole episode was just over the top and the exposure was around the world.

In the end, Kim was jailed for only 5 days and her attorneys at Liberty Counsel immediately requested that the court dismiss her appeals because the new regulation provides a religious accommodation for her and makes the case moot. In Davis' only legal victory, U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning agreed, dismissing three lawsuits filed against her, saying the new governor's order to use a license form that does not require the county clerk's signature has removed the controversy before the court.  The ACLU itself then sued Davis to recover $233,000 in legal fees.
